Welcome to Gmail

Welcome to Gmail

Welcome to Gmail indeed! I have high hopes for this becoming my default mail account after over 5 years with Hotmail. It's missing 2 features I really need though: Pocket PC access and automatic redirection. I would actually prefer the automatic redirection on Hotmail to get emails going to Gmail, but I've changed my replyto address, so things are starting to pop up in gmail.

It is a pleasure to be able to see an email conversation develop, mails are stored in what appears to be layers so you can open a specific mail and follow the thread of it like a newsgroup. Also, Labels keep stuff organised without folders. It's virtually the same thing in the end, but with a label, a mail can be in more than one place, although you can copy mails too...

Hm, like most people I just like the New, New thing. perhaps it is not so great after all.

Speaking of Google, thinking of buying shares in the IPO? well my advice is wait. Once this so-called "fair" Dutch auction is over, the price will quickly crash when everyone sells out to make a quick buck. Then'd be a good time to buy, because they will climb steadily after that. No share stays at it's IPO level, sometimes it takes years to settle down, but with the good old internet, it'll happen fast in this case. I think like Microsoft, Amazon, Ebay share's Google is a good buy, but wait for the feeding frenzy to finish.
